Dr Brett Johnson spent twelve years in the Porsche parts business and seven years practising veterinary medicine. Now a writer, he has published several notable books on Porsches including The 911 & 912 Porsche, a Restorer’s Guide to Authenticity, and The 356 Porsche, A Restorer’s Guide to Authenticity, which has sold over 45,000 copies worldwide.
Place of birth: Indianapolis, USA • Hometown: Indianapolis, IN 46250 • Nearest city: IndianapolisBrett Johnson bought his first 356 Porsche in 1971, a $325 356A cabriolet. In the following years he bought, rebuilt and sold 356 Porsches and other sports cars.
In 1975 he became editor of the restoration column in the fledgling 356 Registry magazine. The column’s subject matter gradually drifted from restoration to authenticity, which served as the basis for his renowned 356 authenticity book.
In addition to his passion for Porsches, Brett is also a practicing veterinarian in Indianapolis.
At the time of this printing Dr. Johnson’s Porsche collection has dwindled to only four, including the 1955 Continental sunroof coupe on the cover of this book.
